海外からお越しいただいた皆様に、ふろしきの染物体験をお楽しみいただきました。
まずは、ふろしきの歴史や使い方についてご紹介。海外ではまだ馴染みの少ないふろしきですが、一枚の布がバッグになったり、贈り物を包んだりできることを知ると、皆様とても興味深そうに耳を傾けてくださいました。
体験では、布を折りたたみ、縛り、染料を入れていく工程を一つひとつ体験。どんな模様になるのか想像しながら作業する時間は、皆様自然と笑顔になり、完成を心待ちにされていました。
染め上がった布を広げる瞬間は歓声が上がるほど。思い描いた模様や予想もしなかった美しい表情に、参加者の皆様それぞれが感動されていました。
完成したふろしきは、旅の記念品であると同時に、これからの日常でも使える実用品です。
帰国後にふろしきを手に取るたび、日本で過ごした時間や染色体験の思い出がよみがえる。そんな特別な一枚になってくれたら嬉しく思います。

Experiencing Japanese Culture Through Furoshiki Dyeing
We were delighted to welcome guests from overseas for a traditional Japanese furoshiki dyeing workshop.
In recent years, more international visitors have joined our dyeing experiences, eager to learn about Japanese craftsmanship and culture. This time, participants created their own unique furoshiki using traditional shibori dyeing techniques.
Before the dyeing began, we introduced the history and many uses of furoshiki. While furoshiki is a familiar part of Japanese culture, many visitors are discovering it for the first time. Guests were fascinated to learn how a single piece of cloth can be used to wrap gifts, carry belongings, or even become a reusable bag.
Throughout the workshop, participants folded, tied, and dyed the fabric by hand, eagerly anticipating the patterns that would emerge. The creative process itself became a memorable part of the experience, filled with smiles, conversation, and excitement.
One of the most enjoyable moments came when the finished fabrics were unfolded. Each piece revealed a unique pattern, making every furoshiki truly one of a kind.
More than a souvenir, these handmade furoshiki can be used in everyday life long after the journey has ended. We hope that whenever our guests use their furoshiki, they will remember their time in Japan and the special experience of creating something with their own hands.
