連日、北海道としては例年にないほどの暑さが続いていますが、今年も恒例となっている海外からのお客様を対象とした染物体験を開催いたしました！
今回は、染めるアイテムとして**「ハンカチ（ふろしき小）」と「手ぬぐい」**の中から選んでいただき、
最初にふろしきや手ぬぐいの使い方について簡単なレクチャーを行いました。
ふろしきはお弁当を包んだり、ギフトラッピングやバッグ代わりにも使える日本独自のアイテム。
手ぬぐいも、タオルやストール、キッチンリネンとしてなど、さまざまな使い方ができることを紹介すると、
「こんなに便利なんだ！」「知らなかった！」といった驚きと興味の声があがりました。
レクチャーのあとは、いよいよ染め体験！
色の組み合わせや模様にそれぞれの個性が出て、世界に一つだけの作品が次々に完成。
完成後は、皆さん笑顔で作品を掲げながら記念撮影を行い、賑やかで楽しいひとときとなりました。
暑さの中でも、日本文化に触れながらものづくりを楽しむ姿に、私たちスタッフも元気をいただきました。

A Cultural Dyeing Experience in Hokkaido – Despite the Heat, Smiles All Around!
Although Hokkaido is experiencing unusually high temperatures this year, we were delighted to host our annual dyeing experience for international guests once again!
Participants chose between two traditional Japanese items to dye:
a handkerchief (which can also be used as a small furoshiki) or a tenugui (Japanese hand towel).
Before starting, we gave a brief explanation of how each item is used in everyday Japanese life.
Many of our guests had never heard of furoshiki or tenugui before, and were fascinated to learn that furoshiki can be used for wrapping lunch boxes, gifts, or even as eco-friendly bags.
Tenugui, on the other hand, can be used as a towel, scarf, or kitchen cloth.
There were lots of surprised and curious reactions—“That’s so useful!”, “I had no idea!”
After the short lecture, it was time to dye!
Each participant expressed their creativity through color and pattern, resulting in a beautiful collection of one-of-a-kind pieces.
The session ended with big smiles and a fun group photo, with everyone proudly showing their creations.
Even in the heat, it was a joy to see everyone enjoying Japanese culture and the art of making something with their own hands.
