葡萄の葉で染める「Spring Yellow」
先日、ハワイからお越しのお客様に染物体験をお楽しみいただきました。
今回は、葡萄の葉を使用した天然染料での染物に挑戦していただき、ふろしきを染めました。
染料の材料となるのは、北海道で採れた葡萄の葉。
煮出して作った天然の染液は、やさしく温かみのある黄色に染まります。
完成した色合いを見て、皆さんからは
「Spring yellow！」
という声が上がり、明るい雰囲気の中で作品を見せ合いながらとても盛り上がりました。
また、北海道の自然素材を使った染めの文化にも大変興味を持ってくださり、天然染料や素材についてたくさんの質問をいただきました。
旅の思い出として、自分の手で染めたふろしき。

Natural Dyeing Experience with Guests from Hawaii
Recently, we welcomed guests from Hawaii for a natural dyeing workshop.
In this experience, participants dyed a furoshiki (traditional Japanese wrapping cloth) using a natural dye made from grape leaves.
The dye was carefully extracted by boiling grape leaves collected in Hokkaido.
This natural process creates a soft and warm yellow color inspired by nature.
When the finished pieces were revealed, everyone excitedly described the color as “Spring Yellow!”
The room filled with smiles and laughter as participants compared their unique patterns and shades.
Our guests were also very interested in natural dyeing traditions in Hokkaido and the idea of creating colors from local plants.
Many questions were asked about the materials and the dyeing process.
We hope this hands-on experience became a memorable part of their journey in Japan and a meaningful way to connect with Japanese craftsmanship and nature.
