カナダからのお客様と染物体験 ～手ぬぐいの魅力を知るひととき～

カナダからお越しのお客様が染物体験にご参加くださいました。

今回は、ハンカチと手ぬぐいをお選びいただき、それぞれオリジナルの作品づくりに挑戦していただきました。

海外ではまだ「手ぬぐい」をご存じない方も多く、体験前には手ぬぐいの歴史や、タオルやスカーフ、ラッピング、インテリアなど、さまざまな使い方をご紹介しています。

「こんなにいろいろな使い方ができるなんて！」と驚かれる方も多く、日本ならではの文化に興味を持っていただけることを嬉しく感じています。

少人数でご参加の場合は、当日に実際の染めサンプルをご覧いただきながら、ハンカチ・手ぬぐい・風呂敷など、お好みのアイテムをお選びいただくことも可能です。

完成した作品をご覧になったお二人は、とても喜んでくださり、笑顔で記念撮影をしてくださいました。

染物体験が、日本で過ごした時間の大切な思い出の一つとなり、帰国後も作品を見るたびに北海道や日本での旅を思い出していただけたら、これほど嬉しいことはありません。

これからも、一枚の布を通して、日本のものづくりの楽しさや文化の魅力を世界中の皆さまへお届けしていきたいと思います。

Japanese Shibori Workshop Experience | Welcoming Guests from Canada

We recently had the pleasure of welcoming wonderful guests from Canada to our Japanese tie-dye workshop in Hokkaido.

During the experience, they chose to dye a handkerchief and a traditional Japanese tenugui (hand towel), creating beautiful one-of-a-kind pieces with their own unique color combinations and patterns.

Many international visitors are unfamiliar with the tenugui, so before the workshop we introduce its history and the many ways it can be used. Besides being a hand towel, a tenugui can also be used as a scarf, gift wrapping, home decoration, or even as a practical item for everyday life.

Our guests were pleasantly surprised by its versatility and enjoyed learning about this unique aspect of Japanese culture.

For small groups, guests are welcome to choose their item on the day of the workshop after viewing samples of finished designs. Whether it’s a handkerchief, tenugui, or furoshiki, everyone can select the item that best suits their interests.

Seeing our guests smile as they held up their finished creations reminded us why we love sharing Japanese craftsmanship with visitors from around the world.

We hope their handmade pieces will become treasured souvenirs and bring back wonderful memories of their time in Japan for years to come.
