A Colorful Dyeing Experience in Hokkaido
We were delighted to welcome a group of guests from Hokkaido for a special Japanese textile dyeing experience.
This time, everyone created their own original handkerchief.
Before starting, the participants carefully thought about which colors and patterns they wanted to create. Since each person could choose their own colors and dyeing techniques, every handkerchief turned out completely unique.
When the dyeing was finished and everyone revealed their creations, we were surrounded by a beautiful variety of colors and patterns.
Some chose shades of blue, while others created colorful combinations of green, yellow, pink, and more. Each piece reflected the personality and creativity of its creator.
One of the most enjoyable things about dyeing is that there is no single right answer. By choosing colors and creating patterns themselves, everyone becomes the designer of their own piece.
It was wonderful to see everyone smiling and proudly showing their finished handkerchiefs.
We were also very happy to hear:
“Next time, we’d like to try dyeing a stole or a furoshiki!”
A furoshiki is a traditional Japanese wrapping cloth that can be used in many different ways. A stole offers another opportunity to enjoy color and pattern on a larger piece of fabric.
We hope that the handkerchiefs everyone created will become something they can use in their everyday lives—and that each time they use them, they will remember this fun day of dyeing.
Thank you very much for joining us!
We look forward to welcoming you again for another Japanese dyeing experience in Hokkaido.
